How is everyone getting on in this cold weather? I was supposed to go out this morning for a few last bits and bobs for Christmas but have chickened out. We have about 3 or 4 inches of snow now in Sheffield. Snuggling up with son watching CBBC instead!

Hi Julie,

In NW London, we've got sludge outside and the damp and cold is getting into my bones! Have to go our to see my osteopath this afternoon so I'm not completely stiff as an old goat over Christmas RollEyes

Enjoy CBBC with little one,

Love,

Barbara

Hi Julie,

It's snowed most of the night here and it's nearing a foot deep now!
Luckily Ian and I went out for last minute food last night.
Hannah and her friends went out clubbing and one girl who stayed the night here (well I say night, they didn't get in till 3.30 apparently) left her car outside our house. About 10.30pm someone came to the door and told us they'd just seen a car hit Harriet's car and drive off! It looks driveable but quite a bit of damage. We didn't tell her till this morning because we didn't want to spoil their night out.

It's unbelievable because it's normally so quiet here and she has left it in the same place many times before. Unfortunately the couple who saw it happen couldn't get the other car's number because it was covered with snow.

Have a lovely day with your son Julie. I'd forgotten you live in Sheffield, we'll have to try to meet up one day.
Love, Doreen xx

Poor Harriet - I hope the insurance company are good.

I'll have to get Julian to bring me to Huddersfield one day. I think his car knows the way there by itself as he used to work at Hudderfield Landrover Centre just on the way into town. It was about 12 years ago now but we had some laughs with the people who worked there. They had their annual 'do' at Batley Variety Club. Freddie Starr was on and they still did Scampi in a Basket for the meals!

Oh I remember Batley Variety club and the scampi in the basket!

We live on the Sheffield side of Huddersfield, not too far from Penistone.

What a shame Doreen! Will Hannah's insurance cover that?

Hi Eleanor,
Not Hannah (she doesn't have a car) it was her friend Harriet ,who was staying the night. Her insurance will cover it but she will lose her no-claims bonus.
Took us most of the morning to sort things out. She's ended up leaving it here and we took her home because on closer inspection it wasn't really safe to drive.
She is in the AA but they said as it was a RTA and not just a breakdown if they came out she would have to pay.

We've still got deep snow so it will be a white Christmas for us!

Blushing Oops! Must be all the chocolate I've eaten today Doreen. Poor Harriet, shame to lose her no claims!

We had snow for nearly a week here in Hertford For several days the pavements were lethal and I didn't want to risk going out by myself.

The rabbits loved it though, even eating it!!

It's almost all gone now.
